Green Bathroom

Green Bathroom

Brooklyn, NY

An existing standard 5x7 bathroom and laundry/ storage area was reconfigured into a jack-and-jill type bathroom layout that sits between a main bedroom and a dressing room/ closet.  Slabs of green and black Verde Lapponia granite became the driving force for the bathroom’s design, centered on that color combination, with an infusion of tropical feel that recalls the owner’s childhood hometown.  The swirling lines of natural green and black stone on the walls are offset by the geometric nature of the round penny tiles on the floor.  The floor tiles have a playful element, with some individual penny tiles swapped out by hand during the installation process, to flow between the private rooms and the main vanity area.

Every bit of space is utilized with storage niches carved out from the wall thickness, including a little toilet room niche.  Leftover stone was used to line the storage niches, shelves or floor base. The tropical leaf wallpaper immerses you completely, while sliding glass doors cleverly provide maximum flexibility between openness and privacy.
